The ideal space for V will be one that has two separate areas, the main dining area and an additional room - the Community Room - which will serve the following purposes:

  • Maximize our space during our busiest hours (Friday/Saturday dinner and Saturday/Sunday Brunch).  The Community Room would simply be an extension of our dining room, increasing capacity.

  • The Community Room will also be available for rent.  Individuals or businesses may rent this space for receptions, events, and private dinners.

  • Non-profit organizations will be invited to schedule time that is not providing revenue.  They may use this space for trainings, meetings, receptions and fundraisers.

  • V will coordinate a series of quarterly workshops on topics such as biodynamic wines, green design, and egg-free baking.

  • Live performance.  Flow arts, poetry reading, dance, acapella, card tricks, cello, bagpipe - you name it.  Wanna play?  Give us a call.

To get maximum use out of our space, we hope to have the Community Room booked every single night.  We anticipate that there will be nights that it will produce significant revenue.  Other nights, it may not produce much more than good will and some laughs.

 

Additionally we have planned a variety of special events.  The following is a partial list.

 

January

1  Black Eyed Peas.  V's owners grew up in the American South, just a few miles from each other.  On January 1st, in the American South, tradition dictates that you will eat Black Eyed Peas or face a full year of bad luck.  Come in today for a steaming bowl of (pork free) slow cooked Black Eyed Peas served with homemade cornbread.

 

29  Chinese New Year. Featuring homemade fortune cookies with special fortunes.

 

February

14  Valentines Day  Need some help letting go of an ex?  Place your relationship relics at the alter of Single Life and Uncomplicated Living.

 

March

4  Urban Iditarod - Come in for a pre-race Breakfast of Champions or celebrate later that night at the UI Victory Party.  In the urban version of the famous Alaskan dog sled race, teams of “dogs” lead by a musher will pull their sleds (shopping carts) through some of San Francisco’s most touristed areas. These teams of barking humans must negotiate through the unrelenting and unforgiving dangers of San Francisco’s urban frontier.

 

17 St. Patrick's Day - C'mon.  Where else you gonna eat lunch or dinner on St. Patrick's Day but the greenest restaurant on earth?

 

April

16  Easter  We're organizing a special Thank You to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence for hosting the annual Easter celebration in Dolores Park.  The winner of the Hunky Jesus contest eats free and all Sisters that come in for brunch will receive a special gift.

 

August

16  Madonna's Birthday  Madonna was a vegetarian up until she became pregnant with Lordes.  All day long we'll play pre-Evita Madonna. 

 

27  Burning Man  V will close for Burning Man after brunch on Sunday August 27th and will reopen on Tuesday September 5th.  Look for staff photos, relics, and souvenirs to start appearing throughout the restaurant during the week of September 5th.

 

September

19 International Talk Like a Pirate Day  Every customer gets an English to Pirate cheat sheet.  Our staff will be sounding like, and some of us will be looking like pirates today.  Anyone dressed like a pirate will get some booty compliments of V.

 

24  Folsom Street Fair  Look for our booth and sexy staff wearing the hottest non-leather fetish gear.

 

October

31  Halloween  Dinner tonight has a sliding scale fee based on your costume.  Come in wearing street wear and it's gonna cost you.  A few knock-our-socks-off celebrants will eat free tonight.

 

November

1  Dia de los Muertos  Every year the Mission comes together to celebrate a beautiful tradition.  Look for special Dia de los Muertos instalations in V the week prior to the the procession.  www.dayofthedeadsf.org

 

23  Thanksgiving  This is the one day a year we operate on with a Prix Fix menu.  Make your reservations soon and prepare to feast.

31  The Poseiden Adventure New Year's Eve Party  An upside down Christmas tree, lots of surprises and live performances.
